Angus Barn

This is a popular steakhouse with seating for more than 900 guests. Since opening in 1960, it has received more than 200 awards. At one point, it was even considered the second-best steakhouse in the United States. In both 2018 and 2020, it was named the best fine-dining restaurant in the Research Triangle and was also praised for serving the best steak in the region. In 2019, it ranked 15th among the highest-grossing independent restaurants in the country and was the only one from North Carolina to appear in the top 100. The following year, it improved to 11th place with revenues of $24.3 million. In 2023, Southern Living magazine named the steakhouse the best owner-operated restaurant in North Carolina and the eighth-best in the entire Southern United States. This level of recognition is no coincidence. Angus Barn places great emphasis on both the quality of its food and the professionalism of its staff: Only about one out of every 50 applicants is hired. Altogether, the restaurant employs more than 240 people. From mid-November until the end of January, the entire venue is lavishly decorated for the Christmas season. Angus Barn is also home to the largest collection of firearms from Colt’s Manufacturing Company in the eastern United States, including several that were used by John Wayne and Clint Eastwood in films.
