Birdwood Golf Course

The home course of the University of Virginia golf teams, wrapped around the historic Birdwood estate on rolling ground west of Charlottesville. A comprehensive redesign has left it in excellent condition, and the setting — mature hardwoods, long views to the Blue Ridge, a par-three short course called The Nest alongside — is the main draw.

Green fees are reasonable for the quality, and the clubhouse terrace is open for lunch with a view over the course even if you aren't playing.
