Calico Ghost Town
A restored 1880s silver-mining town clinging to the colorful Calico hills off I-15 — wooden storefronts, a narrow-gauge train, a walk-through mine, and staged gunfights. Bought and rebuilt by Knott's Berry Farm founder Walter Knott in the 1950s and now a San Bernardino County Regional Park, it leans more tidy tourist town than authentic ruin, but it makes a genuinely fun, photogenic half-day and is the marquee stop between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
