Chesapeake Bay Bridge Scenic Overview
A pull-off on the Eastern Shore side of the bridge-tunnel, at the point where the road finally reaches land and the southern tip of the Delmarva Peninsula begins.
The view runs back down the full length of the crossing until it vanishes over the horizon — the best place to grasp how far you have just driven over open water. Below the parking area, a rock revetment and a strip of sand front the bay. Dolphins hunt close to shore through the warmer months, pelicans and terns work the water constantly, and loggerhead turtles nest on these beaches between May and July.
Practical: free, accessible from either direction, open at all hours, with basic parking and a few benches. Five to fifteen minutes. Sunset over the bay is the reason to time it. Wise Point and the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge are just up the road.
