Chincoteague Bay RV Resort & Cottages
Waterfront RV resort and glamping campground on Chincoteague Island, opened in 2023 as Sun Outdoors Chincoteague Bay and rebranded to its current name in 2024. Around 217 sites stretch along roughly half a mile of bayfront with a boardwalk promenade and a private fishing pier where no license is required.
Accommodation runs across three tiers: full-hookup RV sites with 20/30/50-amp service, wood-framed safari-style glamping tents with air conditioning, kitchenette and private bathroom, and sailor-blue cottages with rooftop sun decks and screened porches. Waterfront and waterview positions cost more and are worth it — the sunsets over Chincoteague Bay are the reason people rebook. Amenities include a zero-entry pool, sports court, playground, camp store, communal fire pits and an on-site food truck, with live music and themed events through the season.
Practical notes
- Golf carts and open-air "Moke" vehicles can be rented on site; the glamping tent area isn't car-accessible
- Cottages and RV sites are pet-friendly; glamping tents are not
- Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, Assateague Island National Seashore and the lighthouse are all a short drive away
- Book far ahead for late July — Pony Penning week fills the island completely
