Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
Eighty-three acres of palms, cycads, flowering trees and rainforest plantings laid out in the 1930s by landscape architect William Lyman Phillips, with lakes, vistas and a rare-plant conservatory. The Wings of the Tropics butterfly house and the Tropical Plant Conservatory are the highlights; the free hourly tram tour is the easiest way to cover the grounds in the heat. One of the world's leading tropical botanical gardens, and the reason Coral Gables looks the way it does.
