Falls Lake

This is a large man-made reservoir on the northern edge of the Research Triangle. It was created between 1978 and 1981 for flood control, water supply, recreation and wildlife conservation. Covering more than 12'000 acres of water and surrounded by extensive public land, the lake has approximately 175 miles of shoreline, providing a scenic natural setting close to Raleigh and Durham.
