Freedom Tower

The 1925 Spanish Revival tower on Biscayne Boulevard, built as the Miami News headquarters and modeled on the Giralda. From 1962 to 1974 it processed some 650,000 Cuban refugees, earning its name as Miami's Ellis Island. Now owned by Miami Dade College and reopened after a full restoration, with a museum on the Cuban exile experience and rotating exhibitions. A National Historic Landmark and the most photographed facade downtown, especially lit at night. Open Wednesday to Sunday.
