George Island Landing
A small public boat landing on the marshy western shore of Chincoteague Bay, at the end of a dead-end road through the Worcester County wetlands. There is little here beyond a ramp, a bit of parking and a wide, open view across the shallow bay toward Assateague Island. That is exactly the appeal: it is one of the few points where you can stand directly at the water's edge on this stretch of coast. Herons, egrets and osprey are common, and the light in the early morning is excellent.
