Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge spans the Golden Gate Strait, connecting San Francisco to Marin County in California. Opened in 1937, the bridge was once the longest suspension bridge in the world and remains one of the most photographed landmarks in the United States. Its distinctive “International Orange” color was chosen to enhance visibility in the region’s frequent fog and to complement the natural surroundings.
Visitors can walk or bike across the Golden Gate Bridge for panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Alcatraz Island, and the San Francisco skyline. Popular viewpoints include Crissy Field, Baker Beach, and the Marin Headlands. The bridge is easily accessible from downtown San Francisco and is a must-see stop on any Northern California itinerary.
