Harvey House (Casa del Desierto)

Barstow's grand 1911 depot-hotel, a Spanish-Moorish landmark from the golden age of rail travel and one of the finest surviving Harvey Houses. It now holds the Route 66 'Mother Road' Museum and the Western America Railroad Museum — both free, both keeping erratic, mostly-weekend hours, so confirm before counting on getting inside.
