Hazel Mountain Overlook

One of the better eastward overlooks in the northern-central stretch of Skyline Drive, looking southeast across the Hazel Mountain country toward the Piedmont foothills. What sets it apart from the dozens of other pull-offs is the low rock outcrop at the edge of the parking area — easy to scramble onto, and the reason this spot is a perennial sunrise favourite.

Parking is roomy by Skyline Drive standards, but it fills quickly on autumn weekends and at first light.
