The 45-foot white letters on Mount Lee, the most recognizable landmark in the world's entertainment capital, originally a 1923 real-estate ad reading "HOLLYWOODLAND." You can't reach the sign itself; the best vantages are Griffith Observatory, Lake Hollywood Park, and the trails of Griffith Park.
