Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park (Chaw'se)

A sacred Miwok site preserving 1,185 mortar holes ground into marbleized limestone — the largest collection of bedrock mortars in North America. A reconstructed village, ceremonial roundhouse and the Chaw'se Regional Indian Museum bring living Native culture to a quiet oak-meadow valley.
