Jolly Roger at the Pier

The amusement pier jutting out over the Atlantic at the southern end of the boardwalk, easily identified by its Ferris wheel and the slow-turning lights visible from most of the beach. Rides sit directly above the surf, which is the whole point: the pier offers a mix of thrill rides, a giant slide and midway games with the ocean underneath.

• Best visited after dark when the pier lighting is at its most photogenic
