Kelso Dunes

Some of the tallest dunes in the Mojave, rising about 650 feet in cream-colored waves that 'boom' and sing when sand slides down the steep faces. The roughly three-mile round-trip climb to the crest is a strenuous slog through soft sand, but the summit views over the surrounding ranges — and the eerie sound underfoot — are unforgettable.
