Korean War Veterans Memorial
Nineteen larger than life stainless steel soldiers on patrol through juniper bushes, their reflections in the adjacent black granite wall bringing the number to 38, a reference to the 38th parallel. The wall is etched with over 2,400 photographs of support troops. Dedicated in 1995 south of the Reflecting Pool, directly across from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, it is at its most haunting at night when the figures are lit from below. A Wall of Remembrance with the names of the 36,000 US and 7,000 Korean augmentation dead was added in 2022. Open 24 hours, free.
