Lockett Meadow & Inner Basin Trail
An aspen-ringed meadow inside the caldera of the San Francisco Peaks, reached by a narrow dirt road and famous statewide for its molten-gold foliage in early October. The Inner Basin Trail climbs gently from the campground into the heart of the extinct volcano; the access road closes seasonally with snow.
