Matapeake Pier

Fishing pier in Matapeake Park on the western tip of Kent Island, right at the water's edge of the Chesapeake Bay. The main reason to stop is the view: the twin spans of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge stretch across the bay directly to the north, and you get a clear sense of the 6.9 km you are about to drive. Before the bridge opened in 1952, this was the terminal of the ferry that connected the Eastern Shore to the Annapolis side.

The park also has a small beach, a short woodland trail and restrooms. A modest per-vehicle entry fee applies in season. A 15 minute stop is enough for the photo and a walk to the end of the pier.
