Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge

An arch bridge soaring 890 ft above the Colorado River, spanning Black Canyon just downstream of Hoover Dam and carrying US-93/I-11 between Nevada and Arizona. Opened in 2010, it's the second-highest bridge in the U.S. and incorporates the widest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere. Drivers see nothing but tall barrier walls, so the reason to stop is the pedestrian walkway on the upstream side: park at the free plaza on the Nevada side, climb the stairs or accessible ramp past interpretive plaques honoring Nevada governor Mike O'Callaghan and Army Ranger Pat Tillman, and take in a head-on view of Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, and the river far below. There's no shade and it's often windy, so bring water, sunscreen, and a firm grip on your hat.
