Mojave Desert Lava Tube

A short, dark basalt lava tube where, around midday, a shaft of sunlight pours through a ceiling skylight into the chamber — a striking, much-photographed beam. A ladder drops in from a rough trail; the access road needs high clearance, and a flashlight is essential.
