Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge (Morris Island)
Wilderness refuge covering the Monomoy barrier islands trailing eight miles south from Chatham — a globally significant stopover for migratory shorebirds and home to one of the largest gray seal aggregations on the US East Coast. The accessible portion is the Morris Island headquarters area, with a visitor center and a tidal-flat interpretive trail (check tide times; parts flood at high water). The islands themselves are reached only by boat tours from Chatham.
