Old Plank Road Memorial
A surviving stretch of the wooden "plank road" that let early automobiles cross the shifting dunes between Yuma and El Centro in the 1910s. Laid plank by plank over the sand, it was the only road of its kind; a preserved section sits beside the highway, slowly vanishing under the dunes once more.
