Salton City

The largest community on the Salton Sea, laid out in the 1950s as a glamorous lakeside resort city — streets and a marina were graded for tens of thousands who never came. Today its sparse desert grid, stranded boat ramp, and wide views across the water make it the main gateway and supply stop on the sea's west shore, set between Anza-Borrego and the dunes.
