Sandwich Glass Museum

Sandwich was a glassmaking town long before it was a tourist one — the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company ran here from 1825 to 1888 and its pressed glass ended up in households across the country. The museum tells that industrial story across a series of galleries, from raw ingredients through to the elaborate coloured pieces the factory became known for.

The live glassblowing demonstration in the hot shop runs several times daily and is the main reason to time your visit rather than just dropping in. Allow around an hour; longer if you linger in the gift shop, which sells work by contemporary glass artists.
