Snow Hill Historic District

Roughly 80 percent of this small Pocomoke River town is designated as a historic district, which gives Snow Hill an unusually intact 18th and 19th century streetscape for a place of barely 2,200 residents. Founded in 1686 and named without much regard for local geography (there is neither a hill nor much snow), the town burned twice, in 1844 and again in 1893, so most of what stands today is late Victorian. Clapboard houses with deep porches, brick storefronts and mature shade trees make it a rewarding 30 minute walk. Scenes from the film Runaway Bride were shot here.
