Tahquitz Canyon

A short but rewarding canyon hike right above downtown Palm Springs, climbing past Cahuilla cultural sites and seasonal rapids to a 60-foot waterfall. A minimum water supply is enforced at entry, and rangers offer guided walks. Steep, narrow sections make it less suited to very young children.
