Tasting Room & Taphouse at Mount Ida Reserve
A vineyard and farm brewery under one roof on a sprawling private reserve in the hills south of Charlottesville, reached by long tree-lined drives through pasture and woodland.
The estate grows its own grapes on roughly 27 acres and brews with barley grown on the farm and malted nearby — an unusually literal version of "estate" for the Virginia wine country. Inside it is timber, glass and a full kitchen; outside, terraces and fire pits face west to the Blue Ridge, with a lawn where dogs and kids can run. Flights are self-guided at the table.
Comes into its own in the late afternoon when the light drops onto the mountains. Hours are seasonal and shorter early in the week, so check before making the drive.
