The Barnacle Historic State Park
The oldest house in Miami-Dade still standing on its original site, built in 1891 by yacht designer Ralph Munroe on a bayfront lot in Coconut Grove. A shaded path through hardwood hammock leads to the house, its boathouse and a lawn opening onto Biscayne Bay. Guided house tours run several times a day on open days (closed Tuesday and Wednesday). Tiny admission fee, big sense of what the Grove was before the city.
